January: Goals for the Month

Happy New Year Everyone! I consider myself a creative in so many ways…this space is definitely a long time coming. What started out as a small child with a passion for reading stories, lead to a girl who started to write them herself. Naturally, I’ve hit some bumps along the way and I’m still taking the time to pick myself back up. With that in mind, I thought I would start today with some goals; more specifically, some goals for January 2018! Note: These are NOT New Year’s Resolutions. My “main” goal is to set and achieve small goals that work towards overall mind, body and soul wellness.

 

Goals for The Mind: Go OFFLINE.

This is probably going to be one of the most challenging tasks I ask of myself – which is exactly why I’m doing it. It brings me no joy to think about the stress I feel at the thought of going offline. My work depends on the digital world, and it’s also a huge way for me to stay in touch with my family and friends. My goal is to take one day every week offline. What will I do? I haven’t quite figured it out, and that’s okay.

 

Goals for The Body: Eat More VEGGIES.

I feel like this is everyone’s goal at one point or another, and to be honest that is awesome, it totally should be! BUT, how many of us actually follow through? I’m not just talking about eating your vegetables at dinner, but getting your daily servings EVERY day. My hand is down on this one and my goal is to change that…with a little help from Pinterest of course.

 

Goals for The Soul: Make SLEEP a Priority.

This may fall into the same category as eating more vegetables – we all say we should, we all say we will…and then we don’t. I have always been an early riser, and while I find myself in my bedroom at a generally early time, the lights go out a bit late. I spend too much time on my phone or laptop, watching television or just not getting ready for bed. Sleep is so important to our overall health so I’m making it a priority.

 

Working towards a better me is a journey I feel I’m finally ready to take on. It’s scary to think that there were real times where I wasn’t interested in making changes for my personal well-being. While I know those thoughts can still pop up, I have bigger and brighter thoughts at the forefront of my mind. Every day is a new day, and every day is what you make it. I’m wishing everyone a Happy New Year along with much happiness on your journey through 2018.
